Therapy for adults with late-diagnosed ADHD or autism
A diagnosis in adulthood answers old questions and raises new ones. In person in Westlake Village and by telehealth across California.
If your diagnosis made you reread every report card comment you ever got, you’re in good company.
Making sense of a lifetime
Learning you’re ADHD or autistic as an adult, whether through a formal diagnosis or your own research, often brings up a mix of feelings at once. Some people feel relief at finally having words for what they’ve experienced. Others feel grief, anger, or confusion about the years spent struggling without support. Many feel all of it.
Common experiences include:
- Relief at finally having an explanation
- Grief for the years spent without one
- Looking back at old struggles in a new light
- Figuring out who you are without the mask
- Doubting whether you’re “really” neurodivergent
- Deciding what to share with family, partners, or coworkers
Building a life that fits
Together, we’ll make space for whatever your diagnosis brings up, and explore how it changes the way you understand your past, your relationships, and yourself. We’ll look at the patterns you built to cope, which ones still serve you, and which ones you’re ready to set down.
Over time, the focus shifts from who you think you should have been to who you want to be now.
You don’t need to have it all figured out
You don’t need to have processed your diagnosis before starting therapy. Whether it’s brand new or you’ve been sitting with it for years, we’ll start where you are.
Your first step is a free 15-minute call. We’ll talk about what’s going on and whether we’re a good fit.
