Neurodivergence in families
Neurodivergence often runs in families. Sometimes a child’s diagnosis helps a parent recognize themselves for the first time. I help families make sense of how different brains live under one roof. That includes mismatched needs around routine and noise, and the stress that builds around school, meltdowns, and daily life.
My approach
I’m warm and direct with every member of the family, and I make sure each person gets heard. Drawing on a family-systems perspective, we’ll look at how each person’s role, history, and reactions fit together. We’ll also explore how your family has adapted to stress over time. Parents often gain new insight into their teen’s behavior. Teens get a space where their perspective is taken seriously. I’m also trained in Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT), an approach designed to help teens and parents repair ruptures and rebuild trust. Sessions include the whole family.
